How to Remove a Shutter Panel

RIPON − If you have window shutters in your home, at some point you may need to remove one or more of them, whether to do some painting, window cleaning or repairs. Fortunately, this isn’t hard to do—all you need is a nail set or a similar tool.

The procedure for removing a shutter panel is similar to removing a door: you just take it off its hinges. Use your nail set to push the bottommost hinge pin upward through the hinge. Pull the nail completely out. Repeat these steps with the next two hinges (or however many your shutter panel has). After you’ve removed all the nails, the panel is free to pull out—just rotate it toward the hinge and it’ll come right off. When you’re ready to put it back, simply replace it onto its hinges and reinsert the pins.
